New Teshuvah on COVID-19 Vaccine Distribution

The CJLS has passed "Vaccination and Ethical Questions Posed by COVID-19 Vaccines" by Rabbi Micah Peltz by a vote of 18-0-0. Rabbi Peltz concludes that Jews are obligated to follow all preventive measures, including vaccination for those whose medical providers approve them to receive it, following the laws and procedures of the government for their locality. Jewish institutions are permitted to require employees, students, and congregants to receive vaccination.

Please note that there are other relevant teshuvot in process, so keep an eye out for further updates in the coming weeks. To view COVID-19 guidance from CJLS since the beginning of the pandemic, please visit our website.
