Rabbinical Assembly Statement on Israel and United Arab Emirates Accord to Normalize Relations

The Rabbinical Assembly applauds the agreement Israel and the United Arab Emirates has made to fully normalize relations between the two Middle East nations. We thank the Trump administration for brokering this deal and we call on other Arab states in the region to likewise support the accord and to enter into similar ones themselves.

While we commend the deal, we recognize that this bilateral agreement is but one of many necessary steps to achieve regional stability and move the needle forward in finally resolving the very longstanding Israel-Palestinian dispute.

As leaders of the Conservative/Masorti movement, we pray for continued peace between Israel and her neighbors and for civil rights for all who live in the region. This new agreement is a good step in building collective understanding, trust, and remedying a conflict that’s raged for half a century. As we learn in Psalms (34:15), we strive forever to “seek peace and pursue it.”
