- Shared Society in Be’er Sheva חברה משותפת בבאר שבע

This track highlights the efforts of Jewish and Bedouin-Muslim communities, together with a small Christian population to foster mutual understanding and cooperation in the Negev.
The day will begin Yeruham and Rahme (an unrecognized Bedouin village) with the Atid Bamidbar Organization, an incubator for Bedouin-Jewish initiatives. Led by Bahita Sajaira, we’ll participate in a desert herb workshop while discussing the collaborative efforts of these neighboring towns to foster a shared society. Cofounder and president of Atid Bamidbar, Debi Golan, will provide insights into the challenges and successes of building mutual well-being between the Jewish and Bedouin communities.
Afterward, we’ll head to Be’er Sheva for lunch with the Conservative/Masorti community Eshel Avraham (led by our colleague, Mijael Even-David), followed by a learning session and interfaith panel on shared society with Dr. Daniella Talmon-Heller, past chair of the Middle Eastern Studies department at Ben Gurion University, Becky Keshet, advocate with Rabbis for Human Rights, Sheikh Hassan Abi-Alyon from Rahat, and Father Roman Kaminsky. The day will conclude with a visit to the Anoor Mosque in Rahat, where we’ll meet Sheikh Jamal Al Ubra, Supervisor of the Mosques for the office of Internal affairs, for a discussion on interfaith leadership and community building.

- Jew vs. Jew in Israel: Learning to Disagree, Not Hate (Jerusalem)

The internal struggle between Jews in Israel is critical, and how Jews treat each other will have just as great (if not a greater) impact on their future than external conflicts.
Join Ramah Israel for a tour of three pillars of Jerusalem that tell the story of the city's historical and geographical significance, as well as its modern challenges. Participants will visit Mount Herzl, Givat Ram, and the Old City, along with a stop at Eretz Hemdah, an institute that trains judges and spiritual leaders for the national-religious community. A food tour of Mahaneh Yehudah will round out the experience. This track will cover a lot of ground in Jerusalem, exposing participants to new perspectives on familiar sites.

- Reimagining Israel Engagement for the Day After (Jerusalem)

From how our communities responded to the judicial reform in early 2023 to the way they rallied behind Israel—through advocacy, volunteering, and more—after October 7th, the definition and boundaries of "Israel engagement" have shifted radically over the past year. WZO will guide our exploration of how to approach Israel engagement in our communities and how our movement interacts with Zionism, Israel education, and advocacy.
Participants will visit the Muslala Terrace atop the Klal building, a unique site supported by KKL that’s driving the transformation of Jerusalem into an open, creative society. This track will take us into the heart of Neve Schechter, home for contemporary Jewish culture and art, beginning with a gallery visit and discussion led by curator Bar Yerushalmi on Healing Through Prayer After the War in the Schechter Gallery. We’ll then engage in a creative prayer-writing session with storyteller and Neve Schechter’s Director of Education, Chen Amram.
After lunch, we’ll explore the artsy Florentin neighborhood, followed by a visit to the Dorit Feldman Foundation Art Studio in South Tel Aviv, where we’ll meet artist Sharon Glazberg to discuss healing through art. Lastly, we’ll speak with Yael Citron, Neve Schechter’s Artistic Director, about their incubator for North American olim artists and their creative response to the war.

Immerse yourself in Israel’s historical legacy and what we’re building for generations to come. Begin the day with a breathtaking hike and archaeological tour of Tel Lahish. After lunch, we’ll visit the Neve Hanna Children’s Home in Kiryat Gat, one of our Masorti communities, to learn about their exceptional work with at-risk youth. You'll also have the opportunity to spend time with the children before returning to Jerusalem.
Neve Hanna Children’s Home offers a nurturing environment for at-risk youth, helping them heal from the trauma of poverty, abuse, and neglect while addressing their emotional, physical, and educational needs. As the only Conservative/Masorti-affiliated children’s home in Israel, it promotes Jewish values, equal learning opportunities, and a strong sense of community. Through its programs, Neve Hanna empowers children to overcome challenges and grow into responsible, contributing adults.

- Trauma and Resilience: Workshops with NATAL and Kashouvot (Tel Aviv) טראומה וחוסן: סדנאות עם נט"ל וקשובות (תל אביב)

Travel to Tel Aviv to learn firsthand from experts working every day on the frontlines of pastoral care for trauma victims. NATAL, the Israel Trauma and Resiliency Center, will lead two hands-on workshops focused on trauma-informed leadership. We'll then visit the Sourasky Medical Center to observe spiritual care in action, guided by our colleague, Valerie Stessin, and Kashouvot, the pioneer organization for pastoral care in Israel. Participants will break into small havurot, providing an opportunity to share personal and professional journeys, as well as visit various hospital departments together.

- War, Judaism, & Ecology (Gaza Envelope)

We'll travel to the Gaza envelope for an overview of the area's ancient and modern history. Our visit begins at Kibbutz Kfar Azza, where we will meet residents and hear firsthand about their efforts to rebuild after the events of October 7th.
Next, we’ll visit the Nova Festival Memorial Site for a service and to explore the unique considerations in memorial design, including the connection between humans and nature. Finally, we will visit Kibbutz Sa’ad to meet with a kibbutz member overseeing field crops for several Western Negev kibbutzim, learning about the recovery of agriculture and the collaborative efforts between Jewish and non-Jewish communities in the region.

Uncover the history of Israel’s Masorti founder, Rabbi Harry Tzvi Solomon Davidowitz, and explore Tel Aviv and Herzliyah as we connect early Zionist history and thinking with key internal challenges facing Israel today. Engage with political leaders who are addressing thouse challenges in their own communities, including a meeting with the Mayor of Herzliyah, Yariv Fisher. The tour will conclude with a hands-on workshop introducing the David Cards methodology, a tool participants can bring back to their own communities created by the Jewish Agency for Israel.

Immerse yourself in the vibrant Israeli art scene post-October 7th, learning from local artists and bringing their insights back to your own community. Engage in hands-on workshops with renowned Israeli creators like Tamar Biala of Dirshuni, and David Moss and Matt Berkowitz of Kol Ha’Ot.
We will begin the day at Kol Ha’Ot with a gathering and introduction, followed by a Teachable Art presentation and an interactive "48 Ways" workshop. After a break and lunch, dive into the world of women’s midrash with Tamar Biala, followed by your choice of a "Creation Sensation" workshop or a midrash writing session and then group reflection.

Explore the complex dynamics of Israel’s diverse communities living side by side.
Our day begins in Lod, where we will engage with members of the city's diverse communities: a Palestinian resident, a representative from the Gareen Torani (national religious group), and a local social activist. Together, we’ll listen to their perspectives on the May 2021 riots and visit the sites where these events took place.
Then we’ll travel to Ramle, where we’ll learn the inspiring story of a city led by a mayor from the Likud party, who took an active role in restoring peace to the streets during May 2021. Today, the municipality is working diligently to create a city that respects and values all its residents.

- Building Together - How to Build Communities and Communal Relationships

Travel to the Gaza Envelope and experience the meaning and importance of building communities and communal relations. Join JNF-USA’s Build Together (Livnot B’Yachad) initiative to rebuild the Southern Kibbutzim and communities affected by October 7. You will hear the personal stories of those who lived through this horrific day and discuss the importance of the connection to the people of this region before October 7.
We will start with our Building Together efforts to restore communities by planting, cleaning, painting, and repairing the kibbutzim to welcome evacuees back home. Visit one of the resilience projects in the region, the Sderot Indoor Recreation Center which has provided a much-needed sense of normalcy for residents living in the hard-hit town, located less than one mile from Gaza. We will also stop by the site of the Sderot Police Station and hear the story of the battle that commenced on October 7. End the day at Adi Negev-Nahalat Eran, a one-of-a-kind rehabilitative village in Southern Israel that provides high-level medical services and unparalleled care to individuals with severe cognitive and physical disabilities.
