Rabbinical Assembly Statement on Denying Transfers of Firearms to Terrorists Amendment

NEW YORK – The Rabbinical Assembly, the international association for Conservative/Masorti rabbis; released the following statement regarding proposed amendment 4720 to the Commerce, Justice, Science and Related Agencies (CJS) Appropriations Bill filled by Senator Feinstein (D-CA):

The Rabbinical Assembly applauds Senator Feinstein for her efforts to deny the transfer of firearms to terrorists. As many have said before, thoughts and prayers are not enough, and we must take immediate action to prevent further tragedies. We should not allow those on the watch list to be able to purchase a firearm and potentially kill innocent people. This measure is common sense and just one of many legislative steps we need to take as a nation in order to prevent further gun-related violence. Too many lives have been lost, too many futures have been destroyed, and too many families have been devastated by gun violence. We refuse to stand by and allow another tragedy; we refuse to turn a blind eye to the gun violence that plagues our country every day.
