RA Congratulates Israel Prize Winner Rabbi Shamma Friedman

NEW YORK – In response to today’s announcement that Conservative movement rabbi and professor Shamma Friedman had been chosen for the prestigious Israel Prize for Talmud research, Rabbi  Gerald C. Skolnik, president of the Rabbinical Assembly, offered the following statement,

“Professor Friedman has been a pioneer in Talmudic research and study, whose methods and training have impacted a generation of scholars. We congratulate him on this most deserved honor, and hope that he will continue sharing his gift with students and peers for many years to come. The Schechter Institute, founded and led by the Masorti Movement, continues to provide scholarship and leadership for the future of Israel and the Jewish people.”
