Conservative Rabbis Horrified by Pakistani Taliban Attack on School

NEW YORK – On Tuesday morning, members of the Pakistani Taliban attacked the Army Public School in Peshawar, Pakistan, killing at least 145 people, among them more than 130 children. The Rabbinical Assembly, the international association for Conservative/Masorti rabbis, condemned this horrific attack and offered its thoughts and prayers for the victims and their families in the following statement:

“The Rabbinical Assembly joins with the U.S. Ambassador to Pakistan Richard G. Olson in condemning the depravity of these terrorists. Indiscriminately murdering innocent children is a particularly horrific type of evil. A school is a place where parents send their children to learn and to grow with the expectation of safety and security. Indeed, our tradition teaches that the world itself rests on the breath of schoolchildren. The global community must stand resolute against all types of terrorism and this sort of violence. We join with the international community in mourning the innocent lives lost today, and pray for the swift recovery of those hurt and comfort to all those affected.”
