Resolution on Amia Bombing in Buenos Aires

WHEREAS almost six years have passed since the AMIA Bombing in Buenos Aires, an aggression against the Jewish community which resulted in the deaths of 86 people; and

WHEREAS the Argentine Government has been lax in investigation, trial and conviction of the perpetrators, ignoring numerous pieces of relevant information brought to them by family and community organizations; and

WHEREAS the new Argentine President, Dr. Fernando de la Rua has promised to solve the AMIA and Israeli Embassy bombing affairs and to bring about a just resolution in a manner acceptable to all parties.

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Rabbinical Assembly call upon the current Argentine President, Dr. Fernando de la Rua and his Interior Minister, Federico Storani to move swiftly to resolve these two bombing cases and to bring the perpetrators to justice; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Rabbinical Assembly call upon Argentina’s authorities to take all necessary measures to eliminate racist and anti-Semitic elements from all state Institutions, especially police departments and armed forces.
