The Social Action Committee of the Rabbinical Assembly provides material
to the membership around key issues of the day, and guides the Executive
Council as it frames Rabbinical Assembly policies. The committee is diverse
in representation, including colleagues from several countries, and also
includes members who have knowledge or expertise in legislative, ecological,
health care or economic issues.
The committee also plans annual Advocacy Days in Washington, DC, during
which participants meet with high-level legislators and political figures
to discuss current issues of mutual interest.
In preparation for Advocacy Days, or in response to issues of the day, the
Rabbinical Assembly's Social Action Committee also prepares background material
for its members on topics such as civil rights, the effect of federal budget and tax cuts on
people in need, immigration-related issues including the matter of religious
asylum, the environment, and first amendment issues.
